Friday Cleanup Day

Today we will be doing a little bit of everything. Today will finish all of the assignments we were supposed to do this week. We'll probably have cleanup Friday every Friday and finish any work that we didn't get to during the week or to work ahead in our schedule.

Math
  • First thing is a test. Do the Self Test A on pg 15 of your math book. Kari will check your answers and then mark the Lesson complete.
Lesson 7 - Order of Operations
  • This lesson should be a review from last year. Remember that order of operations is just that, the order in which you do the problem. Hint:
  1. Do all multiplication FIRST from LEFT to RIGHT, then
  2. Do all addition and subtraction in order from left to right.
Read your printed student guide. REMEMBER TO CHECK OFF EACH STEP TO STAY ORGANIZED. I have crossed out part of this that you do not need to do. Do all of the problems it tells you to do in your book because your assessment answers will come from your CORRECT answers.

Language Skills

Lesson 3 - Conjunctions and Interjections
  • This lesson should be pretty easy to get through. Read about Conjunctions and Interjections in your english book L139-L142.
  • Do the Conjunctions and Interjections worksheet and have this checked and then you can do your assessment.
Literature
This is review with a twist!
  • Go through Lesson 10 and re-read re-listen to these poems.
  • This is the TWIST. I want you to pick the poem you like best. Then, I want you to search/Google other poems written by this same author.
  • Read it, print it, practice it and after work you'll recite it the way you think it should be recited. Remember to use the tricks you've learned like pauses and rhythm to convey the emotions you want.
American History
This is the last assignment for the day.
  • Go through Lesson 5 - Inuit and Igloos.
  • YOUR CHOICE ACTIVITY - you can either do the activity outlined in the student guide, OR you can write a short story where you are an Inuit hunter and tell about your life, OR you can role play with me and I'll interview you for a position as an Inuit Professor at College Chris.
  • Do your assessment.

Today is Life Science Day

Today we will begin our Life Science class. All lessons for today will be online.

Lesson 1
Lesson 1 will help you create your Science Notebook. I've left a notebook for you that will be your Science Notebook. This will be handy for taking notes for classes, writing down interesting facts and information for your tests. Later, this will be where we will write information for our experiments and the results of our experiments.

For lesson 1 go trough the lesson online and then Answer the questions on the worksheet.

Lesson 2
Is all about living organisms. After you go through the online go to your worksheet and search for items found in Madagascar. You can Google the organisms. You can also use the the National Geographic website.

Most of Lesson 2 is finding information about the organisms in Madagascar that are listed on the worksheet. Cool stuff!

Lesson 3
This lesson is all about you! We're going to take measurements of your pulse, breathing and then see how this changes when your body exerts energy.

Let's also compare my results with yours! You can even compare your results with mom!

That's it for Science Thursday!!!

No Homework today

We didn't get to go to the zoo today. We talked about organizational skills. Chris can set his alarm on his phone when he has activities to attend. Chris also needs to check his email and calendar daily so we don't miss anything.

Our First Day!!!

Today was our first day of "Home School"!

We worked through the classes, took some tests and learned about Google Gmail and calendar.

Chris completed 3 tests today in math and US History. Tomorrow we will be trying a different approach and pick one subject to concentrate on per day. Also Chris wants to have assignments assigned to him rather than pulling them out of the student book. So tomorrow is Math Day!
