Starting New Units
Science (Do this first)
We're going to start a new Unit in Science. Start out with Lesson 1. Read through all of the information AND TAKE NOTES. Also, check out the Unit Resources at the bottom of the first slide. There's some very good information here and some answers to the review questions on your handout.
Spanish (Do this second)
Let's work through 3 Spanish lessons today. We're almost to the point where we'l have "Spanish Days" at home!
Vocabulary and Literature (Do this last - like we talked about this is something I hope to eventually have you do with your mom at home)
Start the first two lessons in "The Dark Is Rising". Start by reading the Student Guide on the printer and then go online. We'll work on the vocabulary section tomorrow or at home with your mom.

Yesterday & Today
Yesterday we did quite a bit! We knocked out three Science lessons and two science labs. We looked at water and algae under a microscope and found some single celled organisms.
Today we will be finishing the Unit on the Earliest Americans and getting ready for the Unit Assessment.
We will also be working on Math today and inequalities.
Oh, and we are going to talk about some changes to vocabulary and Literature that involves a trip to the library!

Another Unit Wrapup!
Today we will be wrapping up Unit 2 in Literature!
Literature
Think back on some of the bible stories we've read during this unit and some of the character traits of the characters. Take the Unit Assessment only once when you are ready.
American History - Eastern Woodlands Indians
We're almost done with this unit. Today we will be reading about the Eastern Woodland Indians. Remember to fill out the grid when you finish this lesson.
Also don't forget the Document Analysis! This is a separate worksheet. We've done one of these before. Look at the pictures on pages 53 & 54 of History of US and tell what information you can infer about the Eastern Woodland Indians based on the pictures.
Science
Start working on the next Lesson - Multicellular Organisms. There is a worksheet to fill out. If you do this while you are working through your online lesson it will help. DO NOT DO THE ASSESSMENT until we have talked about the lesson and go over the asnwers to your worksheet.
Spanish
Work on the next 2 Spanish lessons
That's it!

Start of our New week and SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS!
Reminders:
Science
- Check your calendar and set your alarms for classes and activities this week
- Don't forget to attend the Pledge of Allegiance today at 11.
- This is an important lesson because you will be using these hints when you write your essays later.
- Go through the online class and compare the two essays I've printed for you. Then answer the questions online.
- Another story from the bible and we'll be comparing the characters in the three bible stories we've read. We'll be talking about the lessons they teach (pride, loyalty, etc).
- You'll have questions to answer at the end of the lesson.
- I also want you to answer the 5 questions at the bottom of the student guide. You can write your answers in your notebook or be prepared to talk about them with me IN DETAIL.
- Work through Lesson 10 and BE SURE TO FINISH THE MOUND BUILDER LINE ON YOUR WORKSHEET OF NATIVE AMERICANS. If this is not done it will be homework.
- I want you to do the activity for this lesson and write a newspaper story about the disappearance of the mound builders. Read through the Activity instructions.
Science
- Today's lesson is about Single Celled Organisms.
- As you work through the lesson look for the answers to the Review questions on your print out.
- Complete ALL ONLINE ACTIVITIES.
- When I get home we will do two activities. The first will be an experiment with Yeast and the second we will be looking at single celled organisms under a microscope!

New Units Starting Today
Math
Today we will be taking the Unit Assessment. This will be done offline. When you are finished I will enter the results for your assessment. Remember to do your work on a separate sheet of paper and put your answers on the Student Guide.
Unit 2 - Lesson 1 - Writing Mathematical Expressions
This should be a pretty good lesson for you. We'll be talking about creating a mathematical expression from a story problem.
American History
Lesson 8 - Touring the Continent
For this lesson you will be taking a tour of North America. We'll be locating and following the path of some of the groups of people we've talked about so far (The Inuits, Anasazi, Northwest Indians). You will be using both your History of US book and the Understanding Geography book so that you can follow their journey across North America.
Life Science LAB DAY
We've talked about diffferent classifications of live. Today you'll be creating your own Taxonomic Chart!
Remember the Classifications of Life:
Organization Example
Domain = Eukarya
Kingdom = Animalia
Phylum = Anthropoda
Class = Arachnida (This would be the classification for a spider!!)
ALL OF YOUR ASSESSMENTS WILL BE DONE ON PAPER AND I WILL BE ENTERING THEM WHEN YOU ARE DONE!
Have fun finishing your units and with your science lab!
